Presto
My personal critique of this story, what jumps out at me, is there a deeper intent to this story? Does it connect to anything important to me?

This short film was a particularly captivating viewing. This film introduces the setting by presenting the magician and bunny preparing backstage. The magician who intended to give the bunny a carrot before the performance, conveniently forgot to carry out the action and left the root vegetable on a table in front of the cage that the bunny is kept in. This point of time in the story is when the audience gains knowledge that the bunny has consciousness similar to humans, the bunny is fuming at the idea of not getting his treat, then schemes to publicly humiliate the magician on stage out of spite. As the two performers proceed onto the stage, the magician begins his series of tricks, to which the bunny refuses to participate and violently retaliates. This squabble between the two fellows attracts the audience's attention, in an almost Tom and Jerry fashion. This act proceeds until the bunny exceeds the limit, where the magician found himself hanging from a high rope, where the bunny decides to show goodwill and save the man by placing the hat beneath him as he fell to his demise. The man later gave the bunny the deserved carrot and both of them lived happily ever after.
As I observed this short film, I noticed that there are various underlying topics that would not be acceptable in today's society heavily coated with comedy. Although I enjoyed this brief film, it jumps out at me that the whole situation is caused by lack of sufficient food for the bunny, translating to animal cruelty. I don't believe there is a deeper intent to this story, although it can be a representation of how magic props (animals) are treated. This magic show from pixar heavily mirrors Tom and Jerry like behaviour, it induces a nostalgic feeling of when times were much simpler in my childhood. This pleasant feeling only deepens my positive opinion about Presto.
